Russia Accuses U.S. Block UN Action Stop the Israel-Gaza Conflict

New York: Russia accused the United States of blocking a UN Security Council efforts to stop an escalating conflict between Israel and Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Russia has also stated that the other members of the Security Council has made the debate about it goes on for too prolonged.
Russia's UN envoy, Vitaly Churkin, explaining that it had prepared a resolution proposed stronger than the official statement of the Security Council, to urge end to violence and show support for international efforts to mediate the conflict.
Churkin said Russia would propose a draft resolution if 15 members of the Security Council can not reach an agreement on a formal statement.
In the mechanism of the Security Council, an official statement should be reached by consensus or agreed to by all members. While the resolution will pass if approved by at least nine members and no veto from the five permanent members, namely China, Britain, the United States, France, and Russia itself.
"One of the members of the Security Council, you know who (the United States-red), indicated it would reject all the proposals of other member states," Churkin said that the United States is not willing to call it directly.
"The actions of the members of that can undermine all peace efforts are underway Egypt and the Middle East," he said.
Israel on Wednesday launched a major air assault on Hamas militants in Gaza and resulted in the killing of a Hamas military commander. Israel also threatened to invade the area.
On the same day, the UN Security Council immediately convened an emergency meeting to discuss the Israeli attack. The meeting did not result in concrete action.
Board members could not reach agreement on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The UN diplomat explained, the failure is caused by the desire of the Security Council to protect Israel Serika America, which is a close ally.
A Security Council diplomat who asked not to be named said the U.S. delegation had received instructions from Washington not to get involved in the consultation on the council's official statement about Gaza and Israel.
Meanwhile, another diplomat quoted U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, who said that the protracted debate in the Security Council because the U.S. wants to ensure the UN action would not be taken megganggu Egyptian mediation, to end the war.
On the other hand, France, Germany, Great Britain, has filed a proposed draft amendment to Russia on Monday. But Churkin deplore the actions of the three countries that have changed too much from the initial proposal.
"It (the act of French, English and German) seems like an attempt to make the issue became protracted. Maybe I'm wrong, but it could be other states have dismissed the matter in a situation that really does not get us off no longer," said Churkin told reporters after consultations.
A Security Council diplomat called the allegations Churkin, about the efforts of some countries to make matters drag on, such as "nonsense".
