Assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat


Washington - In 1964, after holding various positions in the government of Egypt, he was selected by President Gamal Abdel Nasser to serve as Vice President. He held the post until 1966, and again from 1969 to 1970.
After Nasser's death, Anwar Sadat inaugurated as President. In the past 31 years, the international community was shocked by the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, by followers of the fundamentalist forces. He was known as the first Arab leader who spearheaded peace with Israel.
According to The History Channel, the murder took place in a military parade in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. Together with other Egyptian officials, including Vice President Hosni Mubarak, and a number of foreign diplomats, Sadat was then parade memorial ceremony following the victory of the Egyptian forces in the Suez Canal to Israel in the War of 1973. Two grenades exploded when Sadat was watching the troops march the Egyptian Air Force. The attackers then memberondongkan with an assault rifle bullets in all directions.
Sadat was transported by helicopter to a military hospital, but then breathed his last two hours later. Eleven others were killed, including the Cuban ambassador, generals from Oman, and the Coptic Orthodox Church bishop. A total of 28 tetamu wounded, including Vice President Mubarak, Irish Defence Minister James Tully, and four U.S. military officers.
Sadat is a controversial leader. Leading Egypt since October 15, 1970 until the end of life, Sadat was hailed as a hero in the Arab world after bringing victory for Egypt in the war against Israel in 1973. In war, the Egyptians managed to take back some of the territory Israel captured during the "Six-Day Battle" in 1967. However, unexpectedly Sadat visited Jerusalem in 1977 to engage talks with the Israeli government. And during it, along with other Arab countries, Egypt is hostile to Israel and several times engaged the Great War.
Two years later, Sadat reached a peace deal with Israel, represented by Prime Minister Menachem Begin. Sponsored by the U.S. President, Jimmy Carter, Sadat and Begin signed a peace treaty in Washington DC on March 26, 1979.
Begin Sadat initiative and this makes them the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded World on the previous year, 1978. However, Sadat's move drew criticism from fellow Arab states at the time, because it is not compact in the fight against Zionist Israel in the Middle East.
Sadat's peace treaty with Israel was a motive for her murder. Led by Lieutenant Khalid Islambouli, who eventually executed in 1982, a team of assassins in action after emerging calls to kill Sadat.
