A baby trafficking syndicate uncovered in Cairo, Egypt. Police said the syndicate has sold nearly as many as 300 babies at a price of 570 U.S. dollars, or approximately USD 6 million per infant.

Egyptian police, as quoted by AFP on Sunday (11/11/2012), revealed that they dismantle it after the baby trafficking syndicate arrested five suspects, including two nurses and a doctor working at a hospital in Cairo, capital of Egypt.

Practice memperkjual syndicate and bought the baby has been running for three years. Police are now hunting for hospital managers who were arrested while trying to escape.

Police officials confirmed syndicate obtained the babies, including Caesarean birth of women who do not want a baby, but it was too big for the abortion. Abortion is also prohibited except for reasons of health and life of the mother.

Typically, in return for a cesarean birth, the mother who did not want her baby is willing to exchange by allowing doctors to sell the baby to couples who have not had children.

Adoption of children is illegal in Egypt. A number of married couples who do not have children sometimes choose a shortcut on the ban by buying a baby, especially of the syndicate selling these babies.

In 2009, the couple married the American sentenced to two years in prison after the court held them guilty of buying an orphaned child from the institution.
